چکیده

The present study reports siderophores production from bacteria isolated from Iron factory soil and its antifungal activity. Of the twelve morphologically different bacterial cultures isolated from iron factory soil, Kanchipuram, only two strains SD6 and SD12 showed siderophores production in Chrome Azurol S assay. Strain SD12 which showed maximum siderophores production, was selected for further studies. Siderophores produced by the strain SD12 was identified as hydroxymate type. Partial purification was carriedout by ammonium sulphate precipitation and dialysis. The molecular weight of partially purified siderophores was found to be 80KDa and it showed good antifungal activity against Fusarium solani, Aspergillus niger and Phythium sp. The potential strain was identified as Bacillus sp SD12 based on their phenotypic characteristics. Further purification and characterization of siderophores from strain SD12 pave the way for its utilization in the field of medicine and agriculture.

Production, purification, and characterization of antifungal metabolite from Pseudomonas aeruginosa SD12, a new strain obtained from tannery waste polluted soil.

A new strain, SD12, was isolated from tannery waste polluted soil and identified as Pseudomonas aeruginosa on the basis of phenotypic traits and by comparison of 16S rRNA sequences. This bacterium exhibited broad-spectrum antagonistic activity against phytopathogenic fungi. The strain produced phosphatases, cellulases, proteases, pectinases, and HCN and also retained its ability to produce hydr...

Draft Genome Sequence of Bacillus sp. Strain BSC154, Isolated from Biological Soil Crust of Moab, Utah

Bacillus sp. BSC154 was isolated from a biological soil crust near Moab, Utah. The strain appears to be capable of chemotaxis and biofilm production. The BSC154 genome contains iron siderophore production, nitrate reduction, mixed acid-butanediol fermentation, and assimilatory and dissimilatory sulfate metabolism pathways.

Bacterial growth stimulation with exogenous siderophore and synthetic N-acyl homoserine lactone autoinducers under iron-limited and low-nutrient conditions.

The growth of marine bacteria under iron-limited conditions was investigated. Neither siderophore production nor bacterial growth was detected for Pelagiobacter sp. strain V0110 when Fe(III) was present in the culture medium at a concentration of <1.0 microM. However, the growth of V0110 was strongly stimulated by the presence of trace amounts of exogenous siderophore from an alpha proteobacter...

Copper complexation by siderophores from filamentous blue-green algael

From our experimental evidence that iron lirnitation greatly increases the extracellular concentration of strong copper-complexing agents in cultures of Anabaena flos-aquae and Anabaena cyhdrica, and that the iron-algal exudate complex is much more stable than the copper complex, we conclude that strong copper-complexing agents released by filamentous blue-green algae are siderophores. Further ...

Effect of exogenous siderophores on iron uptake activity of marine bacteria under iron-limited conditions.

More than 60% of species examined from a total of 421 strains of heterotrophic marine bacteria which were isolated from marine sponges and seawater were observed to have no detectable siderophore production even when Fe(III) was present in the culture medium at a concentration of 1.0 pM. The growth of one such non-siderophore-producing strain, alpha proteobacterium V0210, was stimulated under i...
